**Fatal Charlotte motorcycle crash death of Timothy Daniel Pickell – Obituary
Authorities have identified the individual who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident involving a CATS bus on Tuesday evening in southeast Charlotte.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Timothy Daniel Pickell, a 27-year-old motorcyclist, was speeding recklessly when he collided with a Dodge Charger. The force of the collision caused him to be thrown from his bike, which subsequently struck a CATS bus.
Emergency responders from CMPD, the Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC arrived at the scene around 6:30 p.m. on East Independence Boulevard, near the 3300 block.
Pickell was pronounced deceased at the location of the accident. The drivers of the other vehicles involved were unharmed.
The CMPD is still investigating the incident, noting that speed and reckless motorcycle operation are suspected factors. Toxicology reports are pending.
