**Fatal West Palm Beach shooting and car crash death of Tysen Mikenzie Cox – Obituary
In West Palm Beach, Florida, authorities have apprehended a suspect connected to a tragic incident that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Tysen Mikenzie Cox. On August 23, around 7 p.m., a ShotSpotter alert indicated that multiple gunshots had been fired on Tamarind Avenue near 20th Street.
Police arrived at the scene to find Cox, who had been shot while inside his car. Despite his efforts to drive a short distance north, Cox’s vehicle collided with another car on 25th Street, leading to a crash. Bystanders attempted to perform CPR, but Cox was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) identified Denzel Jackson as the shooter. Jackson reportedly fired at Cox while he was parked outside a grocery store. Evidence, including 9mm bullet casings, was collected from the scene, leading to an arrest warrant for Jackson.
Jackson, 25, was taken into custody on Thursday before noon by the WPBPD and the U.S. Marshal’s South Florida Fugitive Task Force. Although Jackson denied involvement in the shooting, he admitted to having argued with Cox earlier in the day. He has been charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and is currently held at the Palm Beach County Jail.
