Fatal Preston car crash death of Courtney Dunn – Obituary
Maryland State Police are investigating a tragic car accident in Preston that resulted in the death of Courtney Dunn, 30, from Salisbury, on Tuesday evening. Dunn, who was the driver and only occupant of a Ford, was declared dead at the scene. Reports indicate she was a teacher at Salisbury Christian School.
Involved in the crash was Paulton Panton, 41, from Preston, driving a Chevrolet, along with a 16-year-old passenger. Both were airlifted by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for medical treatment.
The collision occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Maryland Route 16 (Harmony Road) and Grove Road. Preliminary reports suggest that while the Ford was heading south on Route 16, the Chevrolet did not stop at the intersection, leading to the crash.
Route 16 was closed for approximately three hours as investigators examined the scene. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is handling the investigation. Once completed, the findings will be forwarded to the Caroline County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be pursued.
Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack at 410-822-3101. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
