Fatal Troy car crash claims the life of 42-year-old Maricruz Wieland – Obituary
A devastating crash occurred on Wednesday, August 28, on I-35 in Troy, Texas, claiming the life of Maricruz Wieland, a 42-year-old resident of Austin. Authorities were alerted to the accident around 9:44 p.m. near the 309-mile marker on the interstate. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle engulfed in flames in the middle lane.
Initial reports indicated that the vehicle was traveling southbound on the service road before it veered off the roadway, crossing the grass median that separates the main lanes and the service road. After traveling several hundred feet, the car became airborne, eventually crashing into the south side of a creek embankment. The impact caused the car to roll onto the highway’s main lanes, where it caught fire.
Tragically, Maricruz Wieland was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later confirmed that excessive speed played a significant role in the crash.
