In Colorado Springs, the identity of a man found dead with a gunshot wound inside a car has been released. On Monday, August 26, at around 11:45 a.m., officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) were dispatched to the 4200 block of Chestnut Street, close to Garden of the Gods Road and I-25. They arrived to find a single vehicle crashed and an adult male who had succumbed to an apparent gunshot wound.
On August 27, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy and identified the deceased as 24-year-old Vidal Vigil. The cause and manner of death are still being determined, but the investigation is currently treating the incident as a homicide.
Authorities are seeking information on a silver four-door sedan of an older model, which is considered a vehicle of interest in the case. CSPD has indicated that they do not think the shooting was random and there is no known public threat.
