Fatal Nelson County collision death of Andrew Hayen – Obituary

A tragic accident occurred on the Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County on Friday evening, resulting in the death of 17-year-old Andrew Hayen from Cox’s Creek. According to the Kentucky State Police, the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. near the 13 mile-marker.

 

The initial investigation reveals that Hayen was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion westbound when he veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a 2016 Cadillac Escalade traveling eastbound. Nelson County Coroner Danielle Chladek confirmed that Hayen was declared dead at the scene.

 

The Escalade’s driver, 41-year-old Patrick Reed from Bardstown, along with two passengers, were airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The cause of Hayen’s deviation into the opposing lane remains undetermined.

 

The Bluegrass Parkway was partially closed for several hours as state police conducted their investigation.
