Fatal Caroline County crash death of Courtney Dunn – Obituary
Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Preston that resulted in the death of Courtney Dunn, a 30-year-old resident of Salisbury. Dunn, who was driving a Ford and was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports indicate that Dunn was a teacher at Salisbury Christian School.
The crash also involved a Chevrolet driven by Paulton Panton, 41, of Preston, and a 16-year-old passenger. Both were airlifted to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for their injuries.
The collision occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Maryland Route 16 (Harmony Road) and Grove Road. Initial findings suggest that the Ford was heading south on Route 16 when the Chevrolet, for reasons still unclear, failed to stop at the intersection and collided with the Ford.
Route 16 was closed for approximately three hours while the Maryland State Police Crash Team conducted their investigation. The results of this investigation will be forwarded to the Caroline County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed.
