On Wednesday, the Fremont community came together to honor 16-year-old Dylan Reagan, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident.
Reagan, a junior at Mission San Jose High School, was just a month shy of his 17th birthday when the crash occurred.
The accident happened around 6 p.m. as Reagan was en route to the gym. He was traveling along Osgood Road near the Stratford School intersection when a vehicle turning left struck him.
Although the driver remained at the scene, and firefighters attempted to save him, Reagan did not survive.
Reagan’s father spoke at the vigil, describing him as a kind-hearted individual who always sought to help others.
“That kid did nothing wrong in his entire life,” he said. “His life is not over; he just moved on to the next chapter that we call life.”
Sean Sawan, Reagan’s cousin, recalled him as someone who was always eager to assist others. “He was very kind, very passionate.
He was very inspiring,” Sawan said. Friend Farial Farhang added that Reagan went out of his way to contribute to the community without seeking recognition.
Reagan was also known for his athletic prowess, participating in wrestling, softball, basketball, and football. His father noted that Dylan worked as a food server at Carlton Senior Living, where he served meals to elderly residents.
Concerns were raised during the vigil about the intersection where the accident occurred, with some attendees noting unsafe driving behavior.
Farhang’s mother expressed a desire to prevent similar tragedies in the future, stating, “A mother has lost their child, a father has lost their child, and we don’t want to see this again.”
Fremont police are still investigating the cause of the crash and have indicated that drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors.
