Ethan Harrell dies in fatal Spartanburg County UTV crash
Fatal Spartanburg County UTV crash death of Ethan Harrell – Obituary
An early morning UTV accident in Spartanburg County claimed the life of 16-year-old Ethan Harrell, a student-athlete from Inman. The collision occurred on Hardin Road near Henry Road after midnight on Sunday.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Harrell, along with two other passengers, was traveling north on an off-road side-by-side when the vehicle veered off the road and overturned.
Harrell was transported by air to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries before 2 a.m. on Monday.
Harrell was a junior at Boiling Springs High School where he played pitcher and first base for the baseball team.
Head Coach Jeff Lipscomb remembered Harrell as a jovial individual with a passion for trucks, motors, and hunting, noting his popularity and team spirit.
Principal Zack McQuigg described Harrell as positive, well-mannered, and highly respected by both peers and staff.
The school district has made counselors and support services available at Boiling Springs High School to help the community cope with his loss. Grief resources will remain available at the school as needed.
