Fatal Seward rural intersection collision death of Jaimie Calmus – Obituary
A 34-year-old woman, Jaimie Calmus, was killed in a collision involving her SUV and a tractor at a rural intersection northeast of Seward. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on August 22. According to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office, Calmus was driving west on Old Mill Road when a tractor traveling east turned north at the intersection of Old Mill Road and 238th Road, resulting in a crash with her SUV.
The 65-year-old man operating the tractor, who was uninjured, attempted to assist Calmus and the three children in the SUV. Calmus was first taken to Seward Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Bryan West in Lincoln, where she later passed away. The children in the SUV were not injured.
The sheriff’s office reported that all occupants of the SUV were wearing seat belts and that alcohol was not involved in the crash. The Garland Fire and Rescue, Seward Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, and Seward County Roads Department were on the scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing by the Seward County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.
