A 66-year-old man from Kewaskum, identified as Jeffery S. Blankenheim, lost his life in a tragic collision between his semitruck and a train on August 14, 2024, as confirmed by the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Abbott Drive in the Town of Sherman, when Blankenheim’s tanker truck, which was carrying approximately 5,000 gallons of liquid manure, was struck by a Wisconsin Southern train traveling north.
The force of the collision caused the derailment of the train’s engine and six of its 22 cars. Sadly, Blankenheim was pronounced dead at the scene, and no other injuries were reported.
As a result of the accident, westbound traffic on Abbott Drive from State 57 will be redirected south onto Allen Road. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and could take several days, particularly as repairs are made to the affected area.
