Fatal St. Mary’s County death of Joseph Murrin – Obituary
Maryland State Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the death of Joseph Andrew Murrin, whose body was discovered at the bottom of a well near his St. Mary’s County residence over the weekend.
The 53-year-old had been reported missing on Friday, August 2, following a fire at his home in Callaway.
Authorities initially struggled to locate Murrin after his disappearance was reported by his family. A search of the home and its vicinity yielded no results at that time.
The Leonardtown fire, which broke out in the rear of a property on Point Lookout Road, was part of the initial investigation.
On Saturday, August 3, Murrin’s family found him in a well approximately 30 feet deep. Emergency responders, including Maryland State Troopers, firefighters from various departments, and technical rescue specialists, successfully recovered his body.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has taken Murrin’s body for an autopsy to determine the precise cause and manner of his death. The investigation is ongoing as of Monday, August 5.
