The community of northwest Harris County is reeling after Marilyn Johnson, who had been missing for several days, was discovered shot to death on Friday.
Authorities say her boyfriend found her lifeless body after not hearing from her for some time. The Hearthstone neighborhood, known for its tight-knit and mostly retired residents, is in shock over the tragic event. “This is a close community where everyone knows each other and looks out for one another. It’s just heartbreaking,” said local resident Matt Peveto.
Law enforcement officers spent hours at the scene on Beechmoor Drive, gathering evidence and documenting the crime scene. Johnson, believed to be in her 40s, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Her identity was initially withheld at the family’s request.
Sgt. Miller reported that it was Johnson’s boyfriend who made the grim discovery. “She hadn’t been seen for a couple of days, so he came by to check on her. When he arrived, he noticed the door had been forced open and then found her inside.”
Residents described the area as typically peaceful. “This neighborhood is mostly made up of retirees, and there’s a country club just a few blocks away. It’s usually very quiet here, so this incident is both tragic and unsettling for everyone, including my own family,” said another local.
Investigators are now working to gather video footage from the area and are speaking with residents as they continue their investigation.
