Fatal Cedar Lake Wildlife Management Area drowning death of Rafael Martinez Pascual – Obituary.

WILLIAMSTOWN, N.J. — Rafael Martinez Pascual, a 38-year-old resident of Gloucester County, tragically drowned on Thursday while swimming with friends at the Cedar Lake Wildlife Management Area in Williamstown, according to Monroe Township police.

Pascual, who lived in Pitman, N.J., was swimming near Jackson Road when he went underwater and did not resurface.

The location where they were swimming is off-limits to the public, and swimming is prohibited under the area’s Wildlife Management regulations.

 

Emergency responders, including divers, boats, helicopters, and drones, conducted an extensive search for Pascual.

His body was discovered by a rescue diver around 5 p.m., and he was declared dead at the scene.

 

Authorities confirmed that Pascual, a citizen of Mexico, was the fourth drowning victim in Monroe Township this summer.

The incident is currently under investigation by Monroe Township police and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
