Jeffersonville police are investigating a tragic incident that claimed the life of 19-year-old Raven Sierra Newsome early Saturday morning.
The accident occurred just after 4 a.m. on Vissing Park Road, close to Vissing Park. Reports indicate that the vehicle involved in the crash was carrying around seven or eight people at the time of the rollover.
Witnesses at the scene revealed that the group had been drinking at Vissing Park prior to the crash. The 16-year-old driver showed signs of intoxication, according to authorities.
Several occupants fled the scene but were later found at local hospitals, while those who remained were treated on-site and taken to area hospitals, including Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
Tragically, Raven Sierra Newsome succumbed to her injuries, though the conditions of the other individuals have not been disclosed.
Jeffersonville police are emphasizing the dangers of impaired driving, especially among young drivers, urging the community to recognize the severe consequences of drunk driving.
