A 16-year-old named Zepplenin Phillips lost his life in a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday evening in the Hermitage neighborhood, according to officials.
An 18-year-old suspect, Raphael Jobehdari, was taken into custody in South Nashville after a SWAT team conducted a search of his residence, discovering several weapons.
Police have charged Jobehdari with the murder of Phillips, suggesting that the shooting was related to a dispute over a firearm.
The Metro Nashville Police Department reported that the shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. on August 31, in the 4000 block of Hallborough Way. Neighbors indicated they heard about five gunshots.
Phillips was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his neck and chest and was taken to the hospital by local residents.
Initially, authorities indicated the victim’s injuries were critical, but later updates confirmed that Phillips was pronounced dead at the hospital.
