In Wise County, Texas, a fifth person has succumbed to injuries from a tragic vehicle rollover that occurred last week
The accident, which happened early Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 287 near Alvord, involved a van transporting 14 people. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver of the van lost control after veering into a median and overcorrecting. The van rolled multiple times, leading to several passengers being ejected.
The collision resulted in the immediate deaths of the driver, Diony Antoine, aged 46, and two passengers. A fourth individual died later in the hospital.
Eleven others were transported to nearby hospitals by helicopter and ambulance, and only one occupant was wearing a seatbelt. That person survived with minor injuries.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has yet to release the identities of the remaining victims.
