Fatal Franklin County wreck death of Lisa Carey – Obituary
A two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Franklin County resulted in the deaths of a driver and a passenger, with another driver sustaining severe injuries.
The accident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. on August 31 near Old Royston Road, according to Georgia State Patrol Post 52 in Hartwell.
Preliminary reports indicate that Lisa Carey, 36, from Royston, was traveling south in a Honda Civic, while Amy Leah Burns, 47, from Lavonia, was heading north in a Ford F-250. Carey’s vehicle veered into the northbound lane, leading to a head-on collision with the truck.
Carey and Jeffrey Wayne Burns, 51, a passenger in the Ford F-250, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Amy Leah Burns was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with serious injuries.
