Fatal Sumter shooting death of Ny’Heem Burgess and Khanesia Commander – Obituary
Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker has confirmed the deaths of siblings Ny’Heem Burgess and Khanesia Commander in a shooting deemed accidental. The incident occurred on the morning of August 23 at the Sumter Palmetto Inn on North Washington Street, according to the Sumter Police Department.
Ny’Heem Burgess, 16, and Khanesia Commander, 18, were identified by the coroner. Commander passed away on August 27 at Prisma Health Tuomey, with Burgess following on August 28 at the same facility. The coroner has classified the shooting as accidental.
Their obituaries indicate that a public viewing will be held for both victims on September 6 from 3 to 6 p.m. at White Mortuary, located at 517 N Guignard Drive, Sumter, S.C.
