A 27-year-old Capitol Heights resident, Victor Rios Rubio, was shot and killed while attempting to rob the Oriental Express restaurant in Prince George’s County, according to police reports.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when Rubio, armed and aggressive, entered the establishment.
The Prince George’s County Police Department responded to a call at about 4:40 p.m. on August 29, arriving at the 5200 block of Capitol Heights where they discovered Rubio inside the restaurant with gunshot injuries.
He was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Police have stated that an employee of the restaurant fired the shots during the robbery and assault.
The firearm used in the incident was recovered at the location. No charges have been filed in connection with the shooting.
At the time of the robbery, there were no customers present in the restaurant. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
