According to a statement from the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, on September 2 at around 10:30 a.m., deputies arrived at the scene of a single-vehicle accident on 38th Ave. North in Hillsdale.
The vehicle, traveling westbound, veered off the road, crossed the oncoming lane, went into a ditch, and collided with a tree.
The driver, identified as Anthony Carr, 18, from Geneseo, was pronounced dead at the scene. Carr had previously been reported missing by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Assisting in the response were members of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Hillsdale Fire Department, Genesis EMS, and Medforce.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
Earlier, authorities in Henry County had sought public assistance in locating Anthony Carr, who had been reported missing since August 28.
He was last seen at his job at Tyson Foods in Joslin and had left around 3 p.m. that day.
Carr was described as a white male, approximately six feet tall, weighing between 135 and 140 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. His vehicle was a silver 2006 Hyundai Sonata.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts was encouraged to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
