Two residents of Minnesota lost their lives in a tragic car accident over the weekend in Wisconsin. Early on Saturday morning, emergency services were notified of the crash through an OnStar alert. When responders arrived, they found a single vehicle with three occupants involved in the incident.
The Brunett County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred in the 28000 block of East Bass Lake Road, close to the border town of Danbury. The victims have been identified as 25-year-old Layne W. Leitner from Bloomington, and 34-year-old Kyle R. Orloske from White Bear Lake. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third passenger, whose identity has not been disclosed, was airlifted to a hospital for further medical treatment. The latest update on their condition has not been provided.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle veered off the rural two-lane road, traveling approximately 120 feet off-road before colliding with a tree just after 2 a.m. Authorities suspect that alcohol may have played a role in the accident. The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting a reconstruction of the crash as part of an ongoing investigation.
