Authorities have identified the man who died in a high-speed crash over the weekend in Fresno County as 46-year-old Anthony Photopoulos.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office revealed his name following the incident, which occurred when Photopoulos, driving a Volkswagen ID4 electric vehicle, was traveling at a high speed along Holland Avenue.
On Sunday afternoon, he ran a stop sign at Wishon Avenue, lost control, and subsequently crashed into a tree before hitting the gate of a nearby home.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Photopoulos was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and it was confirmed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The city of his residence was not disclosed by authorities.
