SAGINAW, MI — Authorities have identified Carl Harris, a 33-year-old Saginaw resident, as the victim in a tragic accident involving an SUV.
The incident occurred on the morning of August 29, 2024, when Harris was struck by a white SUV around 9:10 a.m. on North Fifth Street near Wadsworth Road.
Initial reports to 911 indicated possible gunfire in the area, but when emergency responders arrived, they found Harris injured by the vehicle collision rather than gunfire.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The investigation led to the closure of Fifth Street between Wadsworth and Fitzhugh, including the area under the Interstate-675 overpass, for several hours.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and has been cooperative with the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots before the crash, and while several shell casings were recovered, it remains uncertain if these are related to the accident.
