Fatal Alvord, Texas rollover crash claims the life of Diony Antoine – Obituary
Texas authorities have released the identities of those involved in a tragic rollover accident that claimed five lives and left nine others injured.
The crash took place on Wednesday, August 28, just before 8 a.m. on the northbound lanes of US-287 near Alvord. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a group of 14 people was traveling from Florida to New Mexico in a white van when the vehicle suddenly swerved off the left side of the road and overturned. Four individuals died at the scene, and another died later that evening.
The victims include 46-year-old Diony Antoine, 42-year-old JN Irard Vixamar, and 36-year-old Ledene Pierre-Louis, who were all pronounced dead at the crash site.
Another passenger, 28-year-old Geneve Louis, was transported to Medical City Denton but succumbed to her injuries the same evening.
A fifth victim, 35-year-old Junior Louis, passed away on Friday, August 30, after being hospitalized with severe injuries.
Authorities reported that Junior Louis was one of seven passengers taken to the hospital with critical injuries, with their ages ranging from 25 to 52.
Two of the critically injured, men aged 33 and 35, were airlifted to hospitals in Fort Worth.
The sole passenger with minor injuries, a 44-year-old man, was also hospitalized. The incident is currently under investigation.
Patrick Dorcant, a cousin of Ledene Pierre-Louis, described Antoine as a dedicated worker who was deeply committed to supporting his family. He shared similar sentiments about Pierre-Louis, noting his strong family values and determination to pursue education in the United States.
Tiffany Cuyler, a friend of several of the victims, remembered Geneve Louis as a kind-hearted individual who had only been in the U.S. for a little over three months. Reflecting on her connection to the Haitian community, Cuyler emphasized the hope many have for a better life in America.
Footage of the crash scene showed the extensively damaged white van resting on a grassy area near the roadway. Dorcant expressed the deep sorrow felt by those who knew the victims, acknowledging the heavy emotional toll of the tragedy.
