Fatal Lee’s Summit motorcycle crash death of Lucas Schmechel – Obituary
In Lee’s Summit, Missouri, authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding a deadly motorcycle accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the westbound side of U.S. 50 Highway, near North Highway 291, around 1:30 p.m.
Initial reports indicate that Lucas Schmechel, 31, from Lee’s Summit, was riding west on 50 Highway when his motorcycle collided with the rear of an SUV that had slowed due to debris on the road.
Schmechel was transported to a hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
The Lee’s Summit Police Department is currently working to reconstruct the accident scene and speak with witnesses. The investigation into what caused the crash remains active.
