Fatal Trumbull County car crash death of Mark Hillier – Obituary
Mark Hillier, a 35-year-old resident of Newton Falls, lost his life in a tragic two-vehicle collision that occurred in Braceville Township, Trumbull County, over the Labor Day weekend. The accident happened around 7:05 p.m. on Saturday on State Route 534.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) from the Warren post, Hillier was driving a 2002 Chevy Impala northbound when he veered left of center and collided with a 2005 Lexus sedan driven by 64-year-old Eric Suchko from Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
Following the impact, Hillier’s Impala was forced off the road and overturned several times.
Hillier, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Trumbull County Coroner.
The occupants of the Lexus were properly restrained and escaped injury. Both firefighters and police were dispatched to the scene.
The OSHP is investigating the crash, with speed suspected to be a factor. In light of previous accidents during the Labor Day weekend, where a significant number of fatalities involved unbelted drivers, authorities urge everyone to wear seatbelts on every journey.
