Authorities have identified Christopher Hallahan, 34, from Westbrook, as the individual who tragically died when a boat collided with a jetty in Old Saybrook on Labor Day.
The accident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. as the vessel, carrying nine people, was returning from Block Island and struck the jetty at the mouth of the Connecticut River.
The incident left six others hospitalized, including the boat’s operator, who remains in critical condition.
The search for two men still missing resumed early Wednesday. Officials have indicated that while there is hope for a rescue, the operation is increasingly likely to become a recovery mission.
Investigators are looking into various factors, including weather conditions and the boat’s GPS data, to piece together the details of the crash.
The boat was lifted from the water around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for further examination near Harbor One Marina.
