Fatal Augusta car crash claims the life of Barry Fields Jr. – Obituary
Two of the three victims involved in a deadly crash on Deans Bridge Road in Augusta, Georgia, have been identified.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen reported that 15-year-old Barry Fields Jr. was the front-seat passenger, while his younger brother, 13-year-old Casey Fields, was seated in the back.
The identity of the driver remains pending, as authorities await DNA results.
The incident occurred on Friday, August 16th, when a Blythe Police Officer attempted to pull over a Mercury Sable for speeding at 7:53 p.m. Rather than stopping, the driver fled, leading to a high-speed chase.
The vehicle veered into oncoming traffic near Bath Edie Road, and after driving against traffic for about a mile, it collided head-on with another car just north of Etterlee Road.
Following the collision, the Mercury Sable caught fire, becoming fully engulfed in flames. Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
