Fatal Anderson, Indiana plane crash death of Joseph R. Scallon – Obituary

The four Iowa residents who were on a plane that crashed in Anderson, Indiana, have been identified. The plane had taken off from Fort Dodge, Iowa, and was en route to Anderson Municipal Airport when it went down.

At approximately 9:50 a.m., dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a plane crash about two miles southeast of the airport, in the 4200 block of East 100 South. Emergency responders arrived to find the single-engine aircraft in flames, but the fire was quickly put out.

Federal authorities, including the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, along with local officials and the county coroner, responded to the scene.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office, with assistance from the Hamelton and Delaware County Coroners, has named the victims as Joseph R. Scallon, 68, from Iowa Falls; “Owen” James Renaud, 19, from Alden; Jesse H. Ostheimer, 41, from Alden; and Braden W. Hicks, 36, from Manson.

 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
