Dario Urena dies in fatal Fresno County car crash
Fatal Fresno County car crash claims the life of Dario Urena – Obituary
Three residents of Kerman tragically lost their lives early Friday, September 13, 2024, when their car collided with a palm tree and erupted into flames near Fresno. Alcohol is suspected to have played a role, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The driver, 25-year-old Dario Urena of Kerman, was heading east on Kearney Avenue in a Honda Civic just before 2:45 a.m. when he lost control near Garfield Avenue.
CHP officials stated that Urena made an unsafe left turn, causing the vehicle to cross into the westbound lane, spin out, and leave the road. The car then crashed into a palm tree and ignited, trapping Urena and his two passengers inside.
The passengers, Syrus Suniga, 21, and Joey Suniga Jr., 27, both also from Kerman, were also killed in the crash.
The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office officially identified the victims on Friday afternoon.
Investigators suspect alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
