Fatal Missouri City shooting death of Karen Miles – Obituary
In Missouri City, Texas, skeletal remains discovered in a wooded area have been identified as Karen Miles, a mother who had been reported missing. According to the Missouri City Police Department, the remains were found on September 9, following an extensive search. An autopsy confirmed that Miles died from a single gunshot wound. Her identity was established through dental records.
Miles was last seen on August 21 at her apartment in the Missouri City/Harris County area. She failed to appear for work on August 22, prompting her family to report her missing on August 28 after they were unable to contact her.
On August 25, Pearland police located Miles’ car with stolen Arkansas license plates in an H-E-B parking lot. Davante Clark, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested on unrelated charges, and Miles was not present. Clark was detained at the Brazoria County Jail.
At the time of his arrest, police were unaware of Miles’ disappearance. It was later discovered that Clark and Miles had no known connection, and the circumstances under which he accessed her vehicle remain unclear.
The search led investigators to an area near Blue Ridge Road, where they found the remains. Neighbors reported being unaware of the police activity in the area.
Following the identification of the remains, Clark has been charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery. The Harris County prosecutors have accepted these charges, though it remains uncertain when Clark will be transferred to Harris County to face them.
Additionally, Clark is a person of interest in two other Harris County cases involving stolen vehicles and missing persons. One of these cases involves the disappearance of Destin Henderson, who vanished on October 24, 2023. Henderson’s family has expressed frustration with how the case has been handled and their concerns about Clark’s potential involvement.
