Fatal Cass County crash death of James Shaw – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed the identity of the individual who perished in a single-vehicle accident late Friday night in southeastern Cass County. The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old James Shaw from Mishawaka.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Teasdale Lake Street, near Robbins Lake Road in Porter Township. Reports suggest that the vehicle was traveling at a high speed when Shaw lost control, causing the car to overturn, slide down an embankment for about 50 yards, and crash into a tree.
Shaw was declared dead at the scene. His passenger, a 23-year-old resident of Elkhart, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The ongoing investigation indicates that alcohol and/or drugs may have contributed to the crash. Additionally, while the passenger was wearing a seatbelt, Shaw was not.
