Fatal Indiana plane crash death of Joseph R. Scallon – Obituary

In Anderson, Indiana, the four passengers from Iowa who were involved in a fatal plane crash have been identified. The incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. when a 911 call reported a plane down about two miles southeast of the Anderson Municipal Airport, near the 4200 block of East 100 South. Emergency crews arrived to find a single-engine aircraft that had crashed and caught fire; the blaze was quickly put out.

 

Federal Aviation Administration officials, the National Transportation Safety Board, and local authorities were called to the scene. It was determined that the flight had departed from Fort Dodge, Iowa, and was heading to Anderson Municipal Airport in Indiana when it lost altitude and crashed for reasons still under investigation.

 

The Madison County Coroner’s Office, with assistance from the Hamelton and Delaware County Coroner’s Offices, identified the deceased as Joseph R. Scallon, 68, from Iowa Falls; James Renaud, 19, from Alden; Jesse Ostheimer, 41, from Alden; and Braden Hicks, 36, from Manson. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
