Fatal San Diego shooting claims the life of 18-year-old Juan Carlos Porter – Obituary.
The San Diego Police Department confirmed Wednesday the identity of an 18-year-old man who was shot and killed near Chicano Park on Sunday. The victim was identified as Juan Carlos Porter from National City.
Officers were dispatched to the Chicano Park area after receiving three separate reports of gunfire. The incidents were reported at 12:12 a.m., 1:08 a.m., and 2:06 a.m. near the southbound Interstate 5 on-ramp at Logan Avenue.
Around 2:10 a.m., a vehicle with several men arrived at Paradise Valley Hospital. They flagged down a San Diego police officer, who was present on an unrelated matter, and directed him to one of their passengers who had been shot. Porter was taken into the hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Police later discovered multiple shell casings and a vehicle that had been struck by bullets multiple times at the scene of the shooting. The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and authorities have not yet released any information regarding a possible suspect.
