Kashaan Damon Sims dies in fatal West Columbia shooting

Fatal West Columbia shooting death of Kashaan Damon Sims – Obituary

In an early morning incident on Sunday in West Columbia, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office has reported the deaths of two individuals and injuries to a third person. The shooting, which occurred around 3:40 a.m. in the 900 block of Center Street, resulted in the immediate death of 17-year-old Kashaan Damon Sims from Columbia, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. The second victim, 29-year-old Alvin Davonte McDaniel Jr. from Winnsboro, was transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds to his lower body but later succumbed to his injuries. A third individual was also shot but has since been released from the hospital.

 

Authorities have not yet made any arrests but believe the incident was isolated and pose no further threat to the community. Investigations are ongoing with contributions from the West Columbia Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and the coroner’s office.
