A tragic accident occurred Thursday afternoon in Seward, where 22-year-old Mackenzie Bamberger from Cobleskill was struck and killed by a car while riding an electric bicycle, according to the New York State Police.
Bamberger was hit by a vehicle heading north at the intersection of state Route 10 and Hill Road. Authorities responded to the scene shortly after 2:00 p.m. Bamberger was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver involved, whose identity has not been released, immediately contacted emergency services and is cooperating fully with investigators, according to the police.
The crash is still under investigation, and no further details have been made public. The intersection, which connects Cobleskill to Canajoharie, remained closed for five hours while authorities worked at the scene.
