A tragic shooting in Lawrence claimed the life of 33-year-old Stephen Hernandez on Sunday morning, according to authorities. The Essex County District Attorney’s Office reported that Hernandez, a Lawrence resident, was shot and succumbed to his injuries.
Police responded to a call about gunfire around 7 a.m. at the 300 block of Walter Street. When officers arrived, they found Hernandez suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders administered first aid at the scene and rushed him to Lawrence General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are continuing to search for the suspect.
