Niagara Regional Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Welland. Mathew Theal, a 24-year-old resident of the area, was discovered early Tuesday morning at a home in the Broadway neighborhood with severe injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Theal did not survive.
A 19-year-old local, Sommer Etherden, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident. Authorities assure that there is no further danger to the community, although a police presence will remain as investigators continue their work.
