Fatal Charlotte Hall crash death of Melvin Leon Elam – Obituary
Speed and alcohol may have contributed to a single-vehicle rollover crash in Charlotte Hall that resulted in the death of a 64-year-old Baltimore resident, Melvin Leon Elam. According to officials, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the crash around 7 p.m. on September 1, at Route 5 and Oak Station Drive.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 2021 Nissan Armada severely damaged and overturned. The driver, identified as Melvin Leon Elam, was declared dead at the scene. Preliminary investigation suggests that both speed and alcohol played roles in the accident. The incident is currently under investigation by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit.
