Fatal Sherwood crash death of Robert Blomquist – Obituary
Portland, Ore. (KOIN) — Robert Blomquist, a 72-year-old resident of Sherwood, has been identified as the person who died in a crash on Pacific Highway 99W near Sherwood on Wednesday morning. The accident, which occurred on the southbound side of the highway near the wildlife refuge north of Sherwood at milepost 14, resulted in the closure of all lanes.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Blomquist was driving a 2018 Audi Q7 north on Highway 99 when he lost control and crossed the median into oncoming traffic. His vehicle collided head-on with a box truck, which subsequently crashed into a dump truck. Blomquist did not survive the collision.
The driver of the box truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital, where they are expected to recover. No other injuries were reported. The Oregon Department of Transportation reported that all lanes of Pacific Highway 99W were reopened by 6:30 p.m. after the incident.
A medical examiner will investigate the cause and manner of Blomquist’s death. Authorities are requesting that any witnesses to the crash contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
