Authorities have identified the pedestrian who tragically lost his life in a collision with a lorry in north London. The incident occurred around 3:30 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the intersection of Kilburn High Road and Cambridge Avenue.
Seventy-one-year-old Thomas Murphy, originally from Ireland and residing in Maida Vale, was pronounced dead at the scene, located near Kilburn High Road rail station. The lorry driver stopped close to the site shortly after the accident and has been interviewed by police.
Currently, no arrests have been made related to this incident. The Metropolitan Police have disclosed Mr. Murphy’s identity today, confirming that his family has been notified.
The police are seeking witnesses to the collision, particularly two men who provided statements at the scene. Detective Sergeant Becca Collens from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit stated, “Our investigation is ongoing, and we have secured vital CCTV footage.” She urged the two key witnesses to reach out to her and requested any additional witnesses who have not yet come forward.
An inquest into Mr. Murphy’s death has been initiated and subsequently adjourned at Barnet Coroner’s Court. Witnesses are encouraged to contact the police at 101, referencing CAD 4240/25Nov23.
