Fatal St. Petersburg street racing death of Charles Koeppen – Obituary.
Authorities are currently searching for an SUV and its driver linked to a deadly street racing incident that occurred on September 11, according to a release from the St. Petersburg Police Department. The crash involved a black Infinity Q6 SUV, driven by 22-year-old Charles Williams IV, and a Ford Ranger operated by 52-year-old Charles Koeppen.
Koeppen was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Williams sustained serious injuries and was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront but has since been released.
Investigators have concluded that Williams was racing the SUV in the designated bus lane when he collided with Koeppen’s truck. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact them at 727-893-7780 or to provide tips anonymously by texting “SPPD” followed by their information to TIP411.
