A man from Concord, identified as 21-year-old Devren B. Atkins, lost his life in a tragic accident early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred on September 18, 2024, at approximately 12:57 a.m. in the 4600 block of Brookneal Highway, according to Virginia State Police.
Reports indicate that Atkins was driving a Cadillac Escalade northbound when he veered across the center line, went off the left side of the road, and collided with a tree. The vehicle subsequently erupted in flames.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
