COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Isabella Salas Morales, an 18-year-old woman struck by a pickup truck while crossing East 64th Avenue, has died from her injuries. The incident occurred last Friday near the 5100 block when an unlicensed driver hit her as she was walking across the street.
Salas Morales was transported to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to her injuries. Her family described her as a bright and loving young woman who balanced college classes in the morning and a restaurant job in the evening to help support her family. She was known for her dedication to her loved ones and her generous spirit, volunteering at a local food bank and bringing joy to those around her.
Authorities identified the driver as a 15-year-old boy who had only a learner’s permit. He initially fled the scene but later returned with his parents. Police stated that speed and impairment were not factors in the crash, though Salas Morales was crossing outside a designated crosswalk at the time.
The investigation is ongoing, with police set to recommend appropriate charges to the Adams County District Attorney’s Office. Family friends have organized a GoFundMe to assist with funeral expenses.
