Fatal Youngstown stabbing death of bouncer Laurence Hopkins – Obituary
A man wanted for the fatal stabbing of a bouncer in New York has been apprehended in Youngstown, Ohio, on Wednesday. The incident occurred on February 10 at the Garden Bar and Grill on Graham Avenue in Brooklyn.
According to U.S. Marshals, Laurence Hopkins, a 61-year-old bouncer, was attempting to assist a female coworker caught in a dispute with patrons when he urged the men to “relax, chill out,” only to be stabbed in the neck. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
Jose Feliciano, 49, was named as the suspect and a murder warrant was issued for him in June by the New York Police Department. Investigators discovered that Feliciano fled New York shortly after the crime.
Law enforcement tracked Feliciano to a residence on Wolosyn Circle in Youngstown. He was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and is currently held in custody in Ohio, awaiting extradition back to New York.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott emphasized that criminals will not find refuge in northern Ohio, stating that the task force will collaborate with law enforcement nationwide to ensure that those wanted for violent crimes are apprehended and held accountable.
