A woman lost her life in a single-vehicle accident in Wilkes County, North Carolina, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
On Wednesday at around 9:40 a.m., troopers were dispatched to a crash on Greenhorn Road near North Lomax Road in Wilkes County. Authorities reported that Kayla Combs, 27, was driving a Chevrolet Impala westbound when she lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line, veered off the road, and struck a tree.
Combs was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. Officials confirmed that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. An initial investigation indicated that excessive speed contributed to the accident.
