ROANOKE, Va. — A woman has been confirmed dead following a single-car accident on the Blue Ridge Parkway, according to National Park Service Law Enforcement rangers.
Rangers responded to the scene near Milepost 101, just outside Roanoke, Virginia, on Tuesday, September 17, at approximately 9:14 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that 36-year-old Laura Marie Jones had died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Jones lost control of her vehicle while traveling at high speed, veering off the road and striking a tree. The impact caused the tree to fall onto Jones’ vehicle, resulting in her death.
