The Kern County coroner’s office identified Shelli Janae Fuller, 38, from Shafter, who tragically died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to intervene in a street fight. The incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. on August 22 at the intersection of Olive and Knudsen drives. She succumbed to her injuries at Kern Medical on September 1.
According to a statement from the Bakersfield Police Department, Fuller noticed several individuals fighting in the street and parked her car to help resolve the situation. During her attempt to break up the altercation, she was hit by a passing vehicle. The driver fled the scene but later reached out to the police to report her involvement in the incident.
