The Fairfax County Police Department has confirmed the identity of the elderly woman who tragically lost her life in a pedestrian accident involving a pickup truck over the weekend in Oakton. The victim, 80-year-old Choon Kook from Vienna, was struck while attempting to cross the street.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred on September 21, shortly before 8:45 a.m. Officers responded to the scene at the intersection of Hunter Mill Road and Lynnhaven Place, adjacent to the Oakton Shopping Center. According to the police investigation, Kook was hit by a Ford F-150 as she entered the crosswalk. The driver was making a turn into the shopping center when the collision occurred.
Emergency responders transported Kook to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police indicated that the driver remained at the scene and that neither speed nor alcohol appeared to contribute to the accident.
